Lamb and Calf Day
Our school holds this event in October on an annual basis. It is a unique opportunity for all students to care for a lamb/goat/calf that is born in July and show them off at the school competition. Students who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the school competition win entry into the Te Puke Group day which is attended by all other schools in the Te Puke District. Group day is held at the Te Puke A & P Showgrounds.
For those students who wish to participate in the Lamb and Calf Day but don’t have access to a calf/goat/lamb the school may have contacts to help provide an animal to care for. We do encourage our students to enter this competition as it gives them an experience full of learning opportunities that can’t be gained in the classroom.
Â
Our school day also includes baking, flower arrangements and construction competitions. The popular Fathers’ Bake-off competition and cake raffle along with mini-gala activities such as the ‘gumboot toss’ and ‘needle in the haystack’ also help to make this a fun event for everyone.
