Learning Experiences

Our classrooms follow Learning Objectives from the New Zealand Curriculum but here's a few additional extra learning experiences that we offer at Rangiuru School.

Science

Science is part of our daily learning programme. We use House of Science kits to support our science learning which also sparks lots of other learning pathways.

Maketu Ongatoro Wetlands Society

We are so lucky to be a part of this awesome programme! The aim of the programme is to encourage students to become kaitiaki for their local environment, through fun and creative classroom activities and field trips. The programme also enables students to be of service to the community through restoring the local ecology.

The Bush

We are lucky enough to have our own piece of native bush right at our back door! Our tamariki can explore the bush during breaks. It is also used as part of learning programme.

Extensive Gardens

Our gardens have plenty to offer, ranging from fruit and citrus trees to seasonal vegetable and flower gardens. Enough to keep everyone busy with weeding, harvesting and of course, consuming!

Swimming

We have our own swimming pool! In Term 1 and Term 4, swimming is part of our PE programme daily. Our aim is to build confidence in the water and to learn water safety skills - essential in the Bay of Plenty!

Cooking

Every Friday our senior students get to make something delcious and sometimes healthy! What we make is determined by what's in season. Our aim is to develop some basic cooking skills to help whanau at home and when they are older.
